The Black Community Should Send Jason Whitlock Into Exile

Jason Whitlock

OPINION – Jason Whitlock of Fox Sports,  (and if don’t know who he is that’s good news) once again began his tap-dancing charade. Whitlock has been known to say things, which demonstrate his wiliness to perform his civic duty to act like a white supremacist in a Black body. This time, Whitlock rhetoric was at Lebron James’ expense. On the show, “The Herd,” with Colin Cowherd, Whitlock discussed James’ reaction to someone who spray-painted the N-word on the side of James’ mansion in L.A.

“Racism is an issue in America, but it’s primarily an issue for the poor. It’s not LeBron James’ issue.”-Jason Whitlock

Whitlock stated in his most ignoramus form to date that James couldn’t possibly feel racism because he is rich. Let me get this straight, according to Whitlock’s logic, if one isn’t poor, then one wouldn’t feel racism. I guess former President Obama didn’t have to deal with racism at all, during his eight years as President, right? There are too many examples to dispel Whitlock’s ignorance, but I think I don’t need to go any further in dispelling Whitlock’s narrative.

The dismissiveness of James’ reaction by Whitlock makes me believe that enough is enough when it comes to Whitlock and his tap dancing. It’s getting to the point where, we should start contacting Fox Sports sponsors that advertise on Whitlock’s show and threatened a boycott, until his employer, give him a ticket to the unemployment line.

Jason Whitlock is one of those Black people that attempt to do whatever possible to make white people feel at ease when the discussion of race comes up. Whitlock is dangerous, disingenuous and needs to be sent on his merry way out of the Black community. What I mean by this, is that I want every Black person, whether they are sports figures or not to leave Whitlock to his own devices. Don’t go on Whitlock’s show, don’t give him an opportunity to interview, set up any meetings, no longer watch his show or listen to him. As a matter of fact, his entire family should leave him alone and that would be great. Just freeze this unapologetic coon behind, out of the Black community until all he has left is to cover hockey.

Not every Black person can be saved, who demonstrate so much self-hate in a Thomas Clarence like persona. We have to leave some folks behind because they aren’t helping, they are hurting us. Hold those who aren’t for us accountable and stop supporting them on anything they do. Remember, Whitlock is covering sports where the majority of those same players he is covering are Black. It’s time to send Whitlock to exile and let that be a lesson to others if you’re not with us, you against us and off you go. I’m sure the crumbs he has been licking off the table, would be enough to continue to feed his family, so don’t feel sorry for him at all.

Now watch Jason Whitlock demonstrate that he is the Sunken Place and he appears relatively proud of it.

Book Review: You Have The Right To Remain Innocent by James Duane

You Have The Right To Remain Innocent

“Any lawyer worth his salt will tell the suspect in no uncertain terms to make no statement to the police under any circumstances.”-Former United States Attorney General and Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson, Watts v. Indiana

Many times, we hear about convicted offenders who confess to crimes, who would later admit they didn’t commit the crime and it turns out that they weren’t lying. Some suspects feel pressure by the police to talk, during the interrogation process. Even in simple traffic and pedestrian stops like we now call stop-n-frisk citizens give out too much information, that might find them in the nearest jail or prison because one didn’t know when to keep their mouth shut.

I have always said, if I commit a crime let’s say hypothetically robbed a bank I won’t say a damn thing to the police If I’m picked up and question as a possible suspect in the crime and I’m innocent, talking to the police is the worse thing one can do. Let’s use the Central 5 case as an example, where five young black men were interrogated for hours, and eventually confess to a crime they didn’t commit. What should have happened in that case is that all of them shouldn’t have said a word. Once the parents arrived, the parents should have requested their kids to be released or charge. Otherwise, everything (especially talking to the police) is off the table.

Well, author and law professor James Duane breaks down when a citizen should talk to the police, which is in very rare circumstances in the book entitled You Have The Right To Remain Innocent. Duane let’s the readers becomes aware that the police’s job is to use one’s words against you and that one has the right to remain silent.

Real cases are discuss and evaluated to give the reader an understanding at what’s at risk when one discloses too much information to the police. Some of these real life stories are nothing short of how the criminal justice system needs revamping in the worse way. It’s frightening how so many innocent people are caught up in the criminal justice system, who were innocent because they just couldn’t keep their mouth shut. In other words, the things one says can be used against you.

This book is a guide, that should be followed especially in the event that one finds themselves in the presence of the police being peppered with questions. If one wants the extreme short version, a simple Google search of James Duane on YouTube would be suffice in getting the same information that is in this short guide, but it’s still worth the read. Lastly, this guide is imperative to those who need to get familiar with one’s constitutional rights as it relates to interactions with the police, and it drives home the consequences of those who talk to much to them, which can be used against you.

Rating 4 out 5.

George Karl Is Blaming Absentee Fathers, Instead of His Mediocre Coaching

Share

kenyon-and-georgeOPINION – There are always occasions when people write autobiographies and “spill the tea,” so to speak, where they highlight things that occur in their lives while blasting others in the process. In the case of former NBA coach George Karl, he attempted to do the same thing in his latest autobiography, entitled Furious George.

In the excerpt of his book, a controversial passage has made its rounds:

“Kenyon and Carmelo carried two big burdens: all that money and no father to show them how to act like a man,” Karl wrote.

Let me get this straight, in other words; Karl’s blaming his mediocre NBA record and lack of an NBA championship on his resume on Kenyon Martin and Carmelo Anthony? When does a head coach show accountability for the process of drafting X’s and O’s, motivating, putting a team together that values leadership and has stellar chemistry? I guess the easy way out, is blaming losses on Black players, who didn’t have a father figure in their lives.

I can name several NBA players, who didn’t have their fathers to guide them and they have gone on to become successful players, who also were able to win a championship and even get into the Basketball Hall of Fame. One player comes to mind is Lebron James, and countless others who have won or who have gone on to the Hall of Fame, like Allen Iverson.

Karl is playing the victim here, and his mediocrity should be scrutinized more than his players. One will never hear great NBA coaches like Greg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs make a statement like that because I’m sure he had players who didn’t have a father figure in their lives. By the looks of things, Popovich did something that Karl didn’t do, probably didn’t care to do, or don’t know how to, and that is to become a father figure to his players if he felt that they needed it.

It also appears to me that Karl’s little excerpt that I highlighted has some racial undertones, that says that Black men can’t be successful in the NBA because their fathers aren’t around. Karl had tons of talented players at his disposal for the most part that didn’t like him. Instead of blaming that on absentee fathers, maybe George Karl needs to look at himself in the mirror.

Kenyon Martin responded on Twitter to Karl recently:

Then Karl used another word that is underline with racial undertones concerning J.R. Smith:

Of Smith, Karl wrote that he had “a huge sense of entitlement, a distracting posse, his eye always on the next contract and some really unbelievable shot selection.”

Most of us are quite aware the words, “posse” and “thug” are part of the covert class of racist language that is replaced instead of the N-word. No one isn’t stupid, and if one thinks otherwise one is probably being willfully ignorant to Karl’s content when talking about Black players. Karl isn’t slick at all and the more I hear his quotes, the more that I come to the conclusion he is probably a covert racist (well not covert any longer). We are no longer sugar coating this, it’s time to start blasting these racist, privilege individuals.

With a career record of 1175 wins and 824 losses and a winning percentage of .432, is not impressive.  Sure Karl has surpassed Phil Jackson in wins, but Jackson has something Karl doesn’t, which is a championship and a better winning percentage. Karl’s head coaching record is dismal, he has no NBA championships under his belt. Lastly, with his last termination by the Sacramento Kings, this should cement his legacy as a coach, who isn’t that good and utilized his white privilege to continue to yield head coaching jobs, even if his performance and record continue to be mediocre. Karl needs to stop blaming everyone else and change the title to his book from Furious George to Incompetent George: The White Privilege Edition.

Note To Social Media: Hillary Clinton Lost, Time To Regroup

Share

hillary-clintonOPINION – November 8th came and went, and the outcome of the Presidential Election shocked a lot of people, with Donald Trump winning the Presidency. I thought Hillary Clinton was going to win and the nation isn’t that silly to elect a failed businessperson who has filed for bankruptcy on numerous occasions. Also, a man who is a blatant sexist, shares xenophobic and racist views, has zero filter with no experience. to run the highest office in the Nation. Well, that proved to be wrong, and now we are faced with a Trump Presidency.

I did become excited that maybe, just maybe my Facebook social media feed would not be flapping their keyboard gums about Hillary Clinton any longer. That proved to be a false narrative; it has got worse.

The shaming of those who stated they didn’t vote for Hillary Clinton has reached a fever pitch. Not only are people crying about the outcome on social media, but the finger pointing has also taken center stage. The blaming of the 3rd party votes like Green Party Jill Stein and Libertarian Gary Johnson has now become the number one excuse as to why HRC lost the election. Folks seem to avoid talking about Jill Stein receiving votes, when Barack Obama won, but the key word is because he won and thus the complaints about 3rd party spoilers were muted. Voting for the Libertarian or Green Party is the norm, but HRC got walloped in key states, but that seem to escape one’s dialogue. The fact remains the same 55 plus million voters co-sign to Donald Trump, and that is a glaring statistic.

The fact that is also escaping so many, is that angry white voters didn’t gravitate toward HRC, they went with Trump instead (which includes women). Folks are also not taking into consideration that some Latinos, more than Mitt Romney received (33& Latino men & 26% Latino women) voted for Trump. This was the election of white nationalism, they also weren’t having a woman running the show as President, and they surely embraced Trump’s racial dog whistle politics. Furthermore, angry white voters gravitated toward a candidate that was not part of the establishment (in their mind), and that was only the tip of the iceberg of things to come as far as the results are concerned. There is no coincidence that 64% of white men voted for Trump, and 52% of white women voted for Trump.

HRC was a flawed candidate from the onset, with baggage that was so intense that it made a sanitation worker take a keen interest in disposing of it. What made matters worse is that the shenanigans that were on display concerning HRC’s campaign. Media personalities leaking debate questions, and among other things that didn’t sit well with people. What would also be part of HRC’s failed campaigned, was that she selected a boring running mate in Tim Kaine, who until this day was a drastic mistake. HRC’s campaign was designed to fail in the first place, the entitlement to the Presidency rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, and she became an unlikeable figure.

“They are saying they did nothing wrong, which is ridiculous,” said one Clinton surrogate. “She was the wrong messenger and everyone misjudged how pissed working class people were.”

The arrogance of the DNC was on full display because some people who supported her, felt that Clinton was entitled to the Presidency. When one evaluates this election, one would know that it was time for a Republican President to win the election. Eight years of a Democratic one, that goes unanswered is not part of history. More than likely a Republican President, would have won regardless, but someone like Trump winning says a lot about the nation.

So, let’s embrace the loss that HRC received and regroup, and understand that the DNC should start pushing more Progressive, young, new candidates and get rid of the business as usual politicians. Let’s stop blaming one entity and realize HRC lost and there is a lot of blame to go around, and the primary factor is she just wasn’t a great candidate. Time for more progressive candidates, if the DNC doesn’t push this then they are tone deaf, just like Howard Dean who wants to insert himself as the new DNC chair. The old Democrats need to take a seat and fade to Black. No one wants to see guys like Howard Dean, so it’s obvious the tone deafness continues to be the DNC’s mo and this means the Party will continue to lose.

To be honest, I’m am mentally exhausted from hearing about this election and its aftermath. The constant bickering is the worse I’ve seen on social media since I’ve signed up. It’s embarrassing how many voters, can’t understand how HRC lost and continued the blame game, by targeting a small group of Libertarians and Green Party candidates.  Instead of holding the Democratic Party accountable for attempting to co-sign a seriously flawed candidate in the first place. If Hillary Clinton didn’t win, it’s because of various factors and that includes Hillary Clinton herself. So, let’s re-group, push for more progressives candidates, no more centrist ideologies and realize old established Democrats can’t excite a paper bag with their business as usual agenda and need to exit stage left.

Black Women Aren’t Safe Rejecting Black Men Advances…

Share

Man Shoots At DoorNEW YORK-A narrative slowly becoming viral is about a few Black women who were out at the Bee Hive Lounge in Brooklyn has made its way on social media. To obtained a grasp of the theme, it is related to a lot of incidents concerning Black women, who reject a Black man’s advances and are subsequently assaulted and even killed for simply saying they aren’t interested. Before I get to the story, recently before this incident there was another incident where a Black woman rejected a Black man in Philadelphia on July 1, 2016, which resulted in violence. It was caught on tape, but in this case, luckily no one got hurt:

The incident began 2:30 p.m. Thursday inside the Rite Aid at 1334 Windrim Ave., police said. A woman told police she was approached by the suspect who attempted to start a conversation with her.

When woman told the suspect that she wasn’t interested, police said, the man followed her around the store as she shopped. He then followed the victim out of the store when she left.

She entered the Safe Haven shelter, located a few blocks south of the store, where cameras recorded the suspect drawing a handgun from his right pocket and firing three times into the doors.

Some men appear to have trouble with rejection. I don’t think they realize that not everyone wants their entitled self-serving ass and that one needs to stop acting like little boys when their feelings get hurt, by rejection.

Now, here is what allegedly happened recently at the Bee Hive Lounge in Brooklyn, in the words of the victim with some editing:

Last night (July 1, 2016), my home girls and I decided to go this bar on Atlantic Avenue. We honestly did not want to go here in the first place but it was in the neighborhood. So as we are sitting down smoking hookah and talking. These rachet a** dudes kept coming over to us trying to talk to us. We politely told the men “We are not interested” they kept on harassing us until one of my home girls was like “stop touching me” home boy got upset and sucka punched her right in the eye. After that the people he came with started swinging on us and in the middle of it all I got punched in the nose by one of the other guys!!!!!! Please do not go to this ghetto spot unless you looking to get punched in the face. Oh and the owner was useless. He was useless because after I called the cops. He closed his gates down and was more concerned about his business than making sure us ladies were okay. This tells me that he probably condone men punching women in the face. I cannot fathom enough how hurt I am for both my friends and myself. We were just trying to have a good time and we got into it with some ghetto people just because we were not trying to talk to them. Some of these dudes now a days are cowards and rather hit their sisters before they hit another man. The guy who punched my friend in the face knew exactly what we was doing and the same thing goes for his friend that punched me. Our black men got to do better because any of us could of been their sister, mother or aunt. Ladies protect yourself when you are out and about because this could happen to you. All because you do not want to talk to a man. Please share this and spread the word. This place needs to get shut down.

So, the Bee Hive Lounge in no way shape or form is safe for Black women. Clearly, the owner is incompetent when it comes down to safety. No one should patrognize a business establishment like that, where women are beaten up for saying no to advances by men. Every night that I pass by that lounge in the safe arms of a vehicle, I see cops sometimes parked in the vicinity. Clearly, this lounge has a problem, where they can’t control the behavior of their customers. Maybe a lawsuit will set the wheels in motion to force the owner to focus on safey. Men like this clearly believes that violence, is the answer because their crusty ass can’t accept rejection and the manager who does nothing is the co-signer. This type of behavior has become an epidemic, where I suggest any Black women who lives in an open carry state and can obtain a hand gun should get their gun permits to protect themselves from the likes of these individuals.

Before I get complaints, that not all Black men are behaving like this (no one said this is appointed to all Black men), white men are just suspectible with the form of entitlement. Take Jaguars linebacker for instance who threw a violent tantrum because he couldn’t get a woman’s phone number:

According to a police report, Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Dan Skuta was flirting with a woman at a bar before allegedly shoving her face and throwing her into a glass window because she refused to give him her number.

With that being said, I’m focused on my interest, which is Black women. Who is teaching these little boys on how to treat women? Behavior like this is learned in the home, and it’s starting to get so bad it’s an everyday occurrence. Why would any woman with sense talk to a man, who has a violent outburst, when they can’t get their way? Apparently, men that fit that profile have participated in domestic violence in the past and if one accepts his advances, may become the next victim.

Men need to learn to control their emotions if a woman doesn’t want to be bothered with entertaining one’s attempt at trying to “holla” at them; just leave us alone. It’s becoming so bad; it is downright dangerous for a Black woman to be out in about, without the protection of other men, to keep the savages at bay. We shouldn’t have to live in fear, when going out in public because little boys don’t understand how to react in a grown up manner to the words “I’m not interested”.

Old School Video of The Week: King of Swing – “Nod Your Head To This”

Share

King of Swing

The year was 1990 when the group King of Swing released the track, “Nod Your Head To This” off their only album entitled Strategy. The group consisted of Sugar Kay, Mike Master, and DJ Cocoa Chanelle. One couldn’t travel in NYC, without hearing this track blaring out of Volvos, Nissans and Wrangler jeeps. “Nod Your Head To This,” was part of the 1990 summer anthem.

King of Swing may have had a head nodding single, but their success was minimized, and Sugar Kay and Mike Master fell off to obscurity. One can’t find too much info on King of Swing, they appeared and contributed to the golden-age of hip-hop in a flash, and was gone as fast as they arrived.

Unlike her group members, DJ Cocoa Chanelle made a name for herself, as a DJ in the New York scene. Chanelle was the first woman to DJ for BET’s Teen Summit (whatever happened to that show?), and she secured a gig at Hot 97. It is a rarity that a woman spun for a group of men who rocked the mic. In fact, I don’t think that has been done after Chanelle (where are my hip hop scholars who dispute this?) Chanelle is hip-hop royalty, and even though King of Swing didn’t have a longevity on the hip-hop scene, their contribution to the genre should always be recognized.

Old School Video of The Week: Stevie Nicks – “Stand Back”

Stevie Nicks

The year was 1983 when Stevie Nicks released “Stand Back” off her album entitled The Wild Heart. Nicks’ signature raspy voice contributed to a sound that would be a catalyst to Fleetwood Mac’s success during their time before she embarked on a successful solo career in the 80’s.

What makes “Stand Back” such a gem is that the late Prince contributed with production, which made “Stand Back” become not only a major hit for Nicks but added proof that whatever Prince touched, whether an addition of a synthesiser or songwriting, it turns to gold.

Note To Janet Jackson: Just Cancel The Concert Already!

Share

Janet Jackson Unbreakable Tour

OPINION – By now, many of Janet Jackson fans have heard the great news (well for some not so great, but we will get to that in a minute), that she is “postponing” her Unbreakable tour to start a family. When I heard the news, I thought it was great she is having a baby, and since this would be the 2nd time, Janet has reneged concerning her tour that I purchased tickets for, then, this time, I’m surely getting a refund right?

Well, there are some good news and bad news for those who purchased concert tickets. There were reports that Janet Jackson is not refunding those who bought tickets to her show through Ticketmaster. Well, social media was not playing that game with Mrs. Jackson. Sure, Janet is very iconic in every sense of the word and is music royalty, but that doesn’t mean Janet Jackson’s “Velvet Rope” will not get dragged all over social media by the millions with emphasis on those who purchased her concert tickets.

After a few days, the word is that Ticketmaster will be refunding tickets. I didn’t call Ticketmaster to seek a refund as of yet, but all of that remains to be seen.  Scanning social media, not everyone will receive their money back thanks to Janet Jackson’s use of the word “postponement”. The dilemma that I have and others are that not only did I purchased tickets through Ticketmaster, I also went and purchased a pair through StubHub. If one has any experience with StubHub, that means that if the artists don’t say an event is cancelled, but postponed then the ticket holder is stuck with the ticket(s).

I don’t know what planet Janet Jackson thinks we are on, but no one (unless one is a rabid fan) is going to sit here and wait for her to make up her mind when she decides to get back on the stage. Live Nation is reporting that the concert will take place in 2017, and therefore this is one of the reasons why Stubhub refuses to issue out refunds. Let’s be real; Janet isn’t going to get on that concert stage to say I love you, much less sing songs from her Unbreakable album and her greatest hits. By the time Janet hits the stage again, her baby will be 18-years-old and on his/her way to college.

Does Janet expect us to believe that she is either giving birth this year, or if she is even projected to have a baby in 2016 and get ready to hit the road and leave her freshly born baby in 2017, so she can parade around on the stage? We know good and damn well Janet is done, she isn’t coming back in 2017, it’s a wrap, so why not say the concert is cancelled so everyone can get their money back and not just some ticket holders?

Anything can happen in 2017, concerning those that can’t obtain a refund. Let’s see; death comes to mind, or other scenarios that will cause those who can’t make it.  What makes things more aggravating is that fans purchased tickets in 2015 and now they probably won’t see her until 2017 (don’t hold your breath). Janet needs to understand; people paid money (large amounts of money) to see her perform and are sick and tired of the postponements.

Do us all a favor Janet and show some integrity; we won’t think any less of you, but if you keep up with the shenanigans, you going to lose a lot of fans for being selfish. Many people can use that refund money to see El Debarge in concert for instance (no shade, just being honest he is performing soon) or attend another event. Now it’s beyond ridiculous now, after so many delays and it’s best just to announce a cancellation.  I don’t think the avoidance of using the word cancellation has anything to do with keeping people’s money (she is already a billionaire) it is to save face because her concert ticket and Unbreakable music sales were already dismal.

Janet Jackson needs to stop playing with fans money and get with the program and use the word cancellation. If not, she is risking hurting her legacy as the curtain draws to a close to her past illustrious career. I guess, she rather risks that, than to appease her fans who supported her for decades.

Old School Video of The Week – New Edition: “My Secret (Didja Gitit Yet?)”

New Edition My Secret

The year was 1984 when New Edition teamed up with some NBA players from the L.A. Lakers at the time for the video to “My Secret (Didja Gitit Yet?)”. The single was off of their second album self-entitled, New Edition. “My Secret (Didja Gitit Yet?” ended up at #100 on the Billboard charts with little fanfare, due to the four other hits, the group were able to manufacture previously.

New Edition would embark on an illustrious career that would bring them success as solo artists, and other groups that were created into adulthood. One would argumentatively be one best boy groups of the 80’s and 90’s.

DAVID BOWIE AT THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL – 1983

The year was 1976 when the late David Bowie performed on Soul Train. Yes, David Bowie was on a show that demonstrated pure Black excellence. Bowie performed his successful single, “Golden Years” from his album entitled Station to Station.

Bowie at this time was losing some of his visual eccentricity and began wearing suits. Bowie wasn’t quite there yet, with the normalcy, but he was slowly evolving. Unfortunately, the performance was lip sync to epic proportions, but that was what a lot of artists were doing on shows like Soul Train. Either way, to see Bowie on one of the most soulful shows imaginable was a foreshadowing scene as to what he would do and say for Black artists that would come after him.

Bowie passed away of cancer on January 10, 2016, but before leaving this earth, he left a great legacy behind. Bowie was able to create 26 albums and starred in 22 films, and this doesn’t count to the countless songs he has penned for himself and others. Bowie’s legacy is nothing short of creative genius and learning how to transform himself enough to instill his relevancy was part of it. Bowie will be missed.
