The recent video of a student at John F. Kennedy High in Patterson, New Jersey, who body slammed his Physics teacher because the teacher confiscated his cell phone, went viral. We tend to gravitate toward negative imagery that is seen all over the web (just check out the fight videos all over Facebook). When positive and fun imagery finally goes viral, it’s a great feeling and continuing to share that with others, is important. I still can’t grasp why a student thinks evoking violence against his teacher, for being discipline is how one handles conflict. That particular student, has deeper issues that have a lot to do with how one is raised, and the lack of positive reinforcements in a person’s life.
The video of Director/Theatre Arts Teacher Scot Pankey in A. Maceo Smith New Tech High School in Dallas, with his students dancing to Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars – “Uptown Funk” went viral. Who needs a television show like Glee (no shade), where one can see a real school demonstrate that same fun (minus the singing) and participation from all students. What made this extra fun to watch is the diversity among the participates, which included one of the students with special needs getting his “Uptown Funk” on and enjoying every minute of it.
I sure wish I had a high school teacher, that would have came up with a concept to do something like this. Check out the video below, and share some positivity:
